PERSONAL NOTES

- WEEK 1 -

For the first week, Mr. Sylvain introduced us to Mobile Application Design.

Here are the things I take notes for my next assignment:
Designing for Small Screens
1) Compact Layout
Clean and uncluttered user interface
2) Intuitive Navigation
Swiping, tapping's scrolling -> enable effortless exploration of content
3) Tactile Interactions
4) Visual Hierarchy
Prioritizing the most important information and features

Conclusion and Key Takeaways
1) Cohesive User Experience
2) Continuous Optimization (feedback and observe when they use the too
3) Emerging Trends (like AI chats)

- WEEK 2 -
For this week, Mr. Sylvain asked us to choose an app. I decided to select the inDrive app and propose a new feature based on my own experiences using the app, which I remembered firsthand.

Here is some notes on what UX Designer care about:
  • creating a delightful experience
  • satisfied user's needs and wants
  • achieving the goal of your organisation
- WEEK 3 -

Here are some notes I took on common usability pitfalls, so I can avoid making the same mistakes in my task:

- Complex interfaces: wide range of feature can overwhelm users, lack of clear labeling
- Confusing navigation: inconsistent layout, lack of search functionality -> cause increased bounce rates
- Lack of CTAs
- Inadequate error handling: Vague error messages like "An error occured" don't tell users what went wrong/ how to fix it
- WEEK 4 -

This week is the proposal submission, and the final slides are included below in the proposal section.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 2: Highlight the key points and important takeaways you want me to know. For the competitor apps, list three strengths and three areas for improvement. This summary is clear, great job so far!

WEEK 3: I think what you have is already very good. I understand what you like about other apps and what you find interesting, that’s exactly what I want to see. But I need you to include at least one more page explaining usability and providing a conclusion.

REFLECTION

Every week, I receive new lecture materials that make me go back to my proposal slides and add what I’ve learned. This process helps my slides improve better and better over time, I try to fill in the gaps in my project based on the new materials I learn. I’ve learned that application design is about making users’ lives easier, caring about and prioritizing user satisfaction, and finding ways to make people’s daily lives more convenient through a properly designed application.
