Exercise 1: Sound Dubbing (15%)

Instructions: Develop the audio profile (dialogue, sound effects, ambient) for the provided video for week 5 in class review, submission is on week 5 weekend.

Dialogues File Given:

First, I began by working on the spreadsheet to organize all of the sound effects for the clip. I used another platform to search for the appropriate sound effects that match the scene.

The Process in Adobe Premiere Pro:

First, I imported the given clip into Adobe Premiere Pro and began the dubbing process. While recording, I watched the actual movie Everything Everywhere All at Once to match the intonation as closely as possible. I also adjusted the volume levels to ensure everything could be heard clearly. Then, I added a pitch effect to my recordings to differentiate between male and female voices. Then, I inserted the sound effects, some of which had to be layered for the desired sound.

Exercise 2: Sound Shaping (15%)

For the second exercise, I recorded myself saying a short sentence and applied different audio effects. The recording was imported into Adobe Audition and edited using various rack effects, including Parametric Equalizer, Reverb, and Flanger.

REFLECTION

This project has been really exciting for me, as dubbing Everything Everywhere All at Once is a completely new experience. I had never done it before. I watched the original video and tried to match the intonation as closely as possible. It was challenging but also a lot of fun. This project taught me how crucial sound is in the filmmaking process.
